    Information Express | Brazil ANATEL issued new Act 13423 and updated Act 5159

    Author:中認聯科 time:2022-11-11 Ctr:1590

    In April 2022, the Brazilian National Communications Administration ANATEL issued Act No. 5159, which proposed new requirements for mobile phone chargers and came into force on October 26, 2022. This Act aims to repeal the previous Act No. 3481, which includes some changes to the EMC test of the vehicle charger and some mechanical test requirements for the wall charger plug.

    However, on October 14, 2022, ANATEL issued New Act No. 13423, the main points of which are as follows:

    1. Act 3481 will be repealed on October 21, 2023;

    2. The implementation of the new Act 5159 is optional;

    3. From October 26, 2022 to October 21, 2023, charger manufacturers can choose to apply for certification according to the requirements approved by Act No. 3481/2019 (the old Act) or the requirements approved by Act No. 5159/2022 (the new Act).
